Exam Schedule Adjustments Amid Mahakumbh
The ongoing Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj has led to significant adjustments in the exam schedule for the much-awaited UP Board exams for students in Classes 10 and 12. Initially set for February 24, the exams in Prayagraj have now been pushed to March 9, 2025. This change aims to tackle the anticipated surge in traffic and ensure a smooth flow during the Mahashivratri event on February 26, which will likely draw a massive number of devotees for the holy dip.
Despite this adjustment, other districts in Uttar Pradesh will not experience any alterations, as their exams will proceed as originally planned. In total, over 54 lakh students are set to partake in these examinations across more than 8,140 centers, emphasizing the sizable logistical challenge at hand. The exams themselves will be conducted in two daily shifts and continue until March 12, 2025.
Managing Traffic and Ensuring Fairness
The festival implications don’t stop at Prayagraj. Cities like Ayodhya and Varanasi, which also expect an influx of visitors due to Mahakumbh, have proactively planned alternative routing to facilitate easy and timely student access to their respective exam centers.
In addition to logistical concerns, authorities are putting a high premium on exam integrity. They have outlined severe penalties for anyone involved in cheating or intimidating examiners, with possible sentences reaching up to seven to ten years in prison, alongside hefty fines. This stern stance underscores the commitment to maintaining fairness during these crucial exams.
